Auntie Bee

Just remembering her. It was one year ago today that she passed away, she was a believer so I know she is in Heaven. I have been thinking of her lately. For those of you who don’t know I was a caregiver to her for almost two years. I got to know her quite well and got to hear many stories from her growing up and adult years. She is my Grandma’s sister and came to live here from Seattle when she needed some assistance. She never married or had children so spent her free time traveling the world with tour groups. She went many places but her favorites were Sweden and Norway. (If I remember correctly). She had a witty humor about her; one story I remember quite well was one time when my Grandma could not find her wallet. She was shopping with my mom so they called to see if we could find it. After much searching we found the wallet under some magazines on Bee’s ottoman, Bea responded with a quick, “darn and I thought I could get away with it.”

Ella got to spend a lot of time with her as well and loved to sit on her lap or on the couch by her. Bee had a dog that she made years before that Ella loved to play with and Auntie Bee would enjoy watching her play with it. She also loved to call for Bee to come to the kitchen when it was time for a meal or her pills. I used to let Ella crawl up the stairs (I would hide so Bee did not see me) and she would crawl into the living room, Bea would say well hello cutie where did you come from? Thinking she just showed up there on her own. It was cute. Bee often forgot my name but she seemed to always remember Ella’s. I thought Ella had forgotten about her since she was so young when she died but a couple of months ago we were at my grandma’s (where Auntie Bee lived her last few years of life) and she saw Auntie Bee’s magnifying glass, picked it up and said this is Auntie Bee’s. This surprised Grandma and me because we were not even talking about her. Just the other day she said she wanted to go to Auntie Bee’s house and also later said she wanted to go to Heaven to see her. It is amazing to me that Ella still remembers her. Here is a picture of Ella and Bee when Ella was about 5 weeks old.

We miss you Aunite Bee, but know you are in a better place now!
